Casa Miranda – A Modern Mediterranean Retreat
A Home in Harmony with Nature Casa Miranda is a one-level home designed with an open-concept living layout that maximizes both functionality and breathtaking views. Built with Y-tong material for energy efficiency, the architecture is minimalist yet inviting, allowing the home to blend seamlessly into its natural surroundings. From the moment you step onto the property, the panoramic view and expansive terrace become the focal points, setting the tone for a home that is as open and airy as it is private and serene.
Architecture & Design Concept The home is architecturally understated, featuring a white façade, flat roof, and black window frames, echoing the clean lines of Greek island homes and the laid-back elegance of Ibiza. The curved exterior walls soften the structure’s presence, integrating it harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. Every terrace is painted crisp white, reinforcing the Mediterranean aesthetic and creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Materials & Color Palette Inside, the home is defined by simplicity and warmth, with concrete flooring that provides a neutral and practical base. The dominant color accent throughout the home is emerald turquoise, found in elements such as antique Moroccan window frames repurposed as artwork, vintage furniture, and handmade ceramics. This bold yet natural hue ties the home to the tones of the surrounding sky and sea.
Touches of small red accents, like the vintage PH5 lamps above the kitchen peninsula, bring a subtle yet striking contrast to the otherwise neutral palette. The home is filled with handmade objects and collected pieces, creating an atmosphere that feels both personal and inspiring.
A Kitchen Designed for Gathering The kitchen and dining area were designed with social gatherings in mind, reflecting the homeowners’ love for cooking and entertaining. A large kitchen with a peninsula allows for cooking together as a family, making meal preparation a shared and welcoming experience. The peninsula also doubles as a serving area, making it perfect for hosting friends and family. The open flow between the kitchen, dining, and terrace ensures that indoor and outdoor spaces function as one.
A Mediterranean Aesthetic Rooted in Simplicity The design of Casa Miranda draws inspiration from Mediterranean islands, where simplicity is deeply ingrained in both architecture and interiors. Unlike the ornate details of traditional Spanish haciendas and cortijos, this home embraces the clean, understated elegance often found in Greek and Ibizan homes. The presence of Scandinavian influences in the home is not a deliberate design choice but rather a reflection of the homeowners’ roots and appreciation for functional design. The result is a space where Mediterranean minimalism naturally aligns with Scandinavian sensibility, creating a home that is both harmonious and effortlessly livable.
